The Utah Valley Convention Center, located in historic downtown Provo, Utah, opened in 2012 and serves as the premiere meeting space in Utah County. The Event Coordinator position at Oak View Group is a key role within the Convention Center team, supporting multiple departments. This position involves significant administrative responsibilities, assisting Event Managers, and managing Exhibitor Services for tradeshow vendors. This role is hourly, with a pay range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, and offers benefits such as 401(k) savings plan and matching for part-time employees. The employment type is other, and the position will remain open until January 9, 2026. An Event Coordinator at Oak View Group is expected to cover front desk reception duties, answer calls, greet clients, process payments, and support the Office Manager. This role requires attending weekly staff and production meetings, performing weekly audits of event diagrams and schedules, and providing feedback to Event Managers. The Event Coordinator also acts as a Manager on Duty during events, primarily in evenings and weekends, coordinating all event details such as audiovisual equipment, food and beverage services, security, electrical setups, and decorations. This role frequently interacts with clients and attendees, managing smaller events independently and working to create event diagrams and communicate needs to the center’s staff. The position demands proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with training provided on Momentus CRM and CAD programs. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service practices, operational knowledge of event management, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended workdays. Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written, are necessary for collaborating with staff, contractors, and event participants. The role is well suited for candidates with a high school diploma or GED, and coursework from an accredited college or university in facility management, hospitality management, marketing, public relations, business management, or a related field is preferred. Experience in event coordination, convention services, or meeting planning, particularly within convention centers, hotels, sports facilities, or performing arts centers, is highly valued.
