The role of Event Chef at Bastion Hospitality is a dynamic and essential position designed for an experienced culinary professional who excels in organizing and leading kitchen operations for catered events. This full-time role involves menu design, overseeing food preparation and quality control, and managing the logistics associated with event catering. The Event Chef will be responsible for developing seasonal, costed menus that align with clients' needs, dietary restrictions, and event themes. They will work closely with clients, event planners, and service staff to ensure seamless coordination from the initial planning stage through to the event's conclusion, including clean-up. The Event Chef will lead and supervise culinary staff, recruit and train team members, manage inventory and ordering of food supplies to control costs and reduce waste, and oversee transporting and setting up kitchen equipment at event venues. In addition, the role demands strict adherence to food safety standards, allergen protocols, and local health regulations to maintain certifications and ensure guest safety. The Event Chef also plays a critical role in budgeting by preparing quotes, controlling labor and food costs, and reporting on event profitability. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt menus and workflows in real time to handle last-minute changes or issues effectively. Working conditions often include frequent evenings, weekends, holidays, and physical demands such as extended periods of standing, lifting heavy loads (specific limits to be determined), and traveling between venues, sometimes requiring overnight stays for multi-day events.
