The ESH Manager position at Layton Construction plays a critical role in the implementation and oversight of corporate, field, and office environmental safety and health policies across assigned business units or large project sites. This full-time role involves managing safety programs, including complex risk projects such as Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP), to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. The manager will actively contribute to building and maintaining a positive safety culture by leading safety initiatives, conducting audits, reviewing safety data, and promoting continuous improvements. The role requires close collaboration with project teams, senior leadership including the VP of Safety, and external regulatory agencies like OSHA, EPA, and MSHA to stay abreast of evolving safety legislation and guidelines.
The position entails functional supervision of safety behaviors for all craft workers and employees in the designated areas, ensuring that all safety incidents are promptly reported and addressed with effective prevention measures. The ESH Manager is expected to facilitate training programs to achieve compliance with OSHA and MSHA requirements and participate in preconstruction meetings to highlight safety planning needs. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role includes making verbal and written presentations, conducting incident review meetings, and interfacing with various stakeholders, including human resources, marketing, accounting, and government bodies.                 - Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety & health or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
 - Excellent knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations and ability to apply them on project sites
 - 2 to 5 years additional ESH experience preferred
 - ASP and CSP accreditations preferred
 - Previous OCIP experience preferred
 - Basic Spanish language communication preferred
 - Demonstrates good interpersonal relations by working well with teams internally and externally and develops team members through appropriate delegation and coaching
 - Understands and applies industrial hygiene principles and best practices
 - Skilled at making verbal and written presentations and communications
 - Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft programs such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams
 - Excels in problem solving, organization, attention to detail, and continuous improvement
