Seattle, WA, USA, WA Hourly $20 - $23
McMenamins is a well-established and popular hospitality company known for its unique blend of restaurants, breweries, historic hotels, and entertainment venues. Founded in the Pacific Northwest, McMenamins has built a reputation for combining local culture, community involvement, and handcrafted experiences in a friendly and lively atmosphere. Its venues typically feature distinct decor highlighting regional history and artwork, fueling a dedicated customer base attracted to their distinctive hospitality style. As a company, McMenamins values diversity, inclusivity, and exceptional guest service. The Night Auditor role at McMenamins is an integral part of the hotel management team, responsible for both front desk operations and night-time accounting processes. This position reports directly to the Hotel Manager and General Manager and is categorized as an hourly non-exempt role with a wage ranging between $20 and $23 per hour. The Night Auditor usually works overnight shifts, generally from 11pm to 7am, though the exact schedule may vary depending on business needs or management discretion. In this position, the Night Auditor oversees the accurate closing of daily hotel accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and balanced by the end of each shift. This requires extensive computer work involving spreadsheets, troubleshooting discrepancies, and maintaining thorough documentation and communication. Beyond accounting, the Night Auditor also functions as the frontline representative at the hotel’s reception during overnight hours—checking guests in and out, handling in-person and phone reservations, operating point-of-sale terminals, and managing multiple phone lines. Given that the Night Auditor often works independently, alongside only the security guard during late hours, the role demands a high level of self-motivation, focus, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently. It also requires thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and crisis management policies per McMenamins’ standards. Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting heavy objects with assistance. The role calls for a person with excellent interpersonal skills, who remains calm under pressure and delivers consistent, positive customer service both face-to-face and via other communication methods. The ideal candidate is someone who embraces McMenamins’ community-oriented and fun workplace culture, possesses strong critical thinking skills, and can multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Training and a commitment to ongoing safety and company updates are expected. Above all, the Night Auditor must approach their work with a positive attitude and dedication to making every guest’s stay memorable and enjoyable.
