Serco is currently offering exciting career opportunities for Air Traffic Controllers located throughout Utah, including locations in Ogden and Provo. The company delivers Air Traffic Control (ATC) services for small and medium regional airports alongside some of the largest commercial air hubs globally, managing Terminal Tower, Terminal Approach Control, and Enroute Center disciplines. As one of the largest non-government employers of Air Traffic Controllers, Serco provides a dynamic and challenging work environment that emphasizes safety, operational excellence, and customer service. The employment type for this role is full-time, with a starting salary of $36.05 per hour, complemented by a range of additional location-based incentives such as paid time off allowance, housing stipends, relocation allowance, and complexity pay.
In this role, Air Traffic Control Specialists (ATCS) manage the safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of air traffic within the vicinity of airports. Their critical duties include controlling air traffic on and around the airport according to established procedures to prevent collisions and reduce congestion delays. The ATCS team undertakes a variety of responsibilities such as answering radio calls from arriving and departing aircraft, issuing landing and takeoff instructions, providing vital information like runway usage, wind velocity and direction, visibility, taxiing instructions, and other pertinent data about aircraft operating nearby. Additionally, ATCS issue air traffic clearances and perform critical weather observations as Limited Aviation Weather Reporting Station observers, disseminating timely weather updates to pilots and other users of the National Airspace System.
The role also involves managing control transfers for aircraft, operating a broad range of equipment from radios, telephones, radar, to airport lighting systems and backup tools, and alerting emergency response teams like Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters when aircraft experience emergencies. ATCS coordinate with airport vehicles and personnel, maintain operational records, and perform on-the-job training instructor duties as required. The position demands a high level of professionalism, quick decision-making, and exceptional communication skills to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency in air traffic management. - FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
- Control Tower Operator (CTO) rating or Credential with a Tower Rating and 6 months practical experience per 14 CFR Part 65.39
