The Service Porter role at AutoNation plays a critical function in maintaining and servicing customer vehicles efficiently and effectively to ensure high customer satisfaction and seamless operational flow. This full-time position starts at $18 per hour and involves various duties such as assisting with service write-ups and tagging customer vehicles, removing protective coverings and ID tags, inspecting vehicles for cleanliness and damage before returning them to customers, and reporting any damages. The Service Porter also transports customers and dealership personnel as needed, performs deliveries, cleans both the interior and exterior of new and used vehicles, and maintains the organization and appearance of the vehicle lot according to dealership standards.
Additional responsibilities include returning vehicle keys to appropriate service consultants, picking up and delivering vehicles to storage areas, retrieving parts from the Parts Department, testing batteries on customer vehicles in the service drive, maintaining the building and grounds, and assisting with shop cleanup and deliveries when needed. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to read and understand written instructions, and the capacity to handle machinery safely. Candidates should be able to drive manual transmission vehicles, have proven customer service skills, and hold a valid driver's license with the ability to operate an automobile.
