The role of Door Attendant at Mayo Clinic is crucial in maintaining the high standards of service that patients and visitors expect. This part-time position operates with a schedule that supports shift variety, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends, providing a flexible working environment. Door Attendants are responsible for assisting patients and guests by helping them to and from vehicles such as cars, courtesy vans, shuttle buses, or taxis, ensuring a welcoming and helpful interaction at all times. Additionally, the Door Attendant maintains patient loading zones, transports patients and their belongings, and monitors taxi cabs and courtesy vehicles daily. When required, they assist with valet operations and sanitizing equipment to maintain hygiene standards. Their duties extend to traffic control in drive-up lanes to safeguard everyone within these often busy areas. Wheelchair recovery is a vital part of the role, requiring Door Attendants to assist patients across various hospital floors, clinic areas, hotels, and ancillary sites on or off campus. This position demands excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm and adaptable under stress.
