The role of Domestic Agent I at AIT is crucial to maintaining high levels of customer service and operational excellence within the domestic freight forwarding segment. This position acts as the primary point of contact for designated customers and carries significant visibility within the company. Responsibilities include managing the entire lifecycle of domestic freight shipments transported via air and ground. This involves quoting, tracking, tracing, routing, and resolving issues to ensure timely and accurate delivery. The Domestic Agent I is tasked with coordinating with vendors and suppliers to oversee shipment dispatch, routing, and rates, and with internal teams to address any freight-related concerns. This position also entails managing daily reports on shipment performance metrics such as on-time delivery and defect codes, supporting local sales and domestic offices, and ensuring compliance with paperwork, labeling, and scanning accuracy. Individuals in this role must understand specialized shipment requirements, including handling non-freight outbound (NFO), high-value, and date/time-specific shipments. Additionally, the Domestic Agent I supports inventory processing and participates in compiling customer-specific performance reports. The wage for this position ranges from $25.90 to $35.80 per hour, varying by geographic location and individual experience. • High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-3 years freight forwarding experience required
• Basic math and geography skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret verbal and written requests/directions including tariffs, safety rules, operating infrastructures, and procedure manuals
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people
• Ability to analyze numerical data and understand components relationships find patterns and draw conclusions
• SAP and AS400 experience preferred
• Basic to intermediate experience using MS Office
• Basic knowledge or ability to learn regulations and compliance procedures associated with all areas of freight forwarding domestic forwarding ground carriers commercial airlines and cartage
• Basic knowledge of IATA and TSA regulations
• Ability to add subtract multiply divide using units of currency weight volume and distance measurements
• Time management is extremely important to meet customer deadlines in a fast paced high volume work environment
