The role of Dining Room Supervisor plays a crucial part in delivering the exceptional dining services that residents of The Village have come to expect. The primary responsibility is to assist the Food Service Director by supervising the dining room operations, ensuring every aspect of meal service runs smoothly, and that residents’ needs and preferences are met with professionalism and care. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee food servers, maintain high standards of sanitation and food safety, and manage dining room logistics effectively.
The Dining Room Supervisor begins their day by checking all sections of the dining room to ensure they are adequately staffed and prepared for service. Coordination with kitchen staff is essential to remain informed of any menu changes or special events requiring setup. Throughout service hours, the supervisor continuously monitors the dining room, checks on servers’ performance, assists with tasks such as coffee pouring, and communicates closely with kitchen staff to ensure seamless meal service. At closing, duties include verifying side work completion, restocking condiments, and preparing for the next day’s events.
Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for overseeing food server training programs, conducting monthly food safety and dining room training sessions, managing inventories of service ware and silverware, and responding promptly to resident needs and emergency alerts on weekends. The role demands excellent communication skills, ability to train and motivate staff, and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a calm, efficient manner.
