The Development Officer, Visitor Experience and Rentals, is a pivotal role within the McNay Art Museum, reporting directly to the Head of Development. This full-time position carries an annual salary of $60,000 and carries the responsibility of overseeing the Museum’s visitor engagement programs and rental event operations. The officer manages a dynamic rental program that spans a variety of clientele and event types, including wedding ceremonies and receptions, proposals, nonprofit functions, corporate events, and private bookings. Beyond event coordination, the role also involves directing the visitor reception services and the onsite photography program, both vital components to the Museum’s earnings and visitor satisfaction.
This position requires a strategic mindset to develop and implement plans that continuously grow earned revenue streams year-over-year. Collaboration with leadership to set achievable goals and maintain robust operational procedures is key to success. Managing a team comprising a full-time Visitor Experience and Rentals Supervisor along with part-time Visitor Experience Associates and Event Specialists, the Development Officer ensures all staff deliver top-tier customer service in line with the Museum’s standards. Strong leadership is essential to foster a positive working environment, ensure thorough staff training, and maintain smooth scheduling for adequate event and visitor support coverage.
The Development Officer also champions the onsite photography program by coordinating reservations and inquiries, maintaining effective communication between photography clients and Museum security, and driving revenue growth through active outreach to local photographers and related professional groups. Frequent assessment and revision of pricing, policies, and operational procedures guarantee competitiveness and alignment with the Museum’s financial goals.
