The role is categorized under Salary Grade S20, with a pay range of $64,166 to $103,308 and is designated as nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The sworn pilot will be responsible for piloting departmental helicopters either as pilot-in-command or second-in-command. This includes executing flight missions that support law enforcement activities, ensuring aircraft safety and regulatory compliance, and maintaining the helicopter and related equipment. The position requires the pilot to perform detailed pre-flight and post-flight inspections in alignment with Airbus Flight Manuals and FAA standards, conduct routine maintenance such as cleaning, refueling, and technical servicing of the helicopter, and manage heliport and office facility upkeep. - High school diploma or GED
- Completion of at least 1500 rotorcraft-helicopter flight hours with 1000 total helicopter pilot-in-command hours including 500 hours rotorcraft turbine-engine and 250 hours rotorcraft-helicopter night flight
- 50 hours rotorcraft-helicopter flight time within the 12 months prior to employment
- Valid Georgia driver’s license
- FAA Commercial Helicopter Certificate
- FAA 1st or 2nd class medical certificate
- Basic Law Enforcement certification
- Willingness to undergo random drug testing as per county policy
- Ability to perform safety sensitive duties
