The Culinary Stock Receiver at The Overlook serves a critical role within the Culinary Services department. Under the primary direction and support of the Executive Chef and additional oversight from the Culinary Services Leadership Team, this position is responsible for the receipt, inspection, and storage of all food and non-food goods for the department. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity of food safety standards and loss prevention through meticulous organization and inventory control of perishable and non-perishable items. The Culinary Stock Receiver ensures that delivered products are accurate, wholesome, and meet the established quality requirements at the point of delivery while verifying and reconciling invoices against shipments.
This role is instrumental in inventory management, which includes performing weekly and monthly inventories involving over 1000 different items annually. The Culinary Stock Receiver must also react proactively to challenges, such as handling shortages or substitutions in menu items independently, while ensuring all alternatives conform to quality and pricing standards. Operating as a key part of the dining service's safety protocol, this position enforces proper storage techniques to minimize spoilage and prevent foodborne illnesses, which directly impact the health and satisfaction of customers.
Effective communication with suppliers and internal teams is required to coordinate deliveries, maintain accurate records, and uphold the efficiency of the recycling program. Additionally, the Culinary Stock Receiver indirectly supervises aspects of operational processes by directing supply use and reinforcing sanitation and safe food storage standards across production and service teams.
