The Cook role at Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital is a full-time position with an hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $21.00, based on experience and skills. The cook plays a crucial role in supporting the well-being and recovery of patients by providing nutritious, attractive, and tastefully prepared meals that accommodate special dietary needs. Key responsibilities include opening the kitchen and organizing daily events, adhering to facility policies and food safety standards, following menus and recipes set by the Dietary Manager and Dietician, and ensuring meals are prepared timely and accurately. The cook is also responsible for maintaining food storage areas, proper labeling, and temperature control while leading food service staff during shifts. This role carries significant responsibility for food sanitation and safety within the hospital. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, at least two years of experience in quantity cooking, basic knowledge of modified diets, and a food service food handler’s permit. Previous experience with industrial kitchen equipment, utensils, and some supervisory responsibilities is highly beneficial. Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
