The position of Cook 2 in Campus and Auxiliary Dining Halls is a full-time role within the University of Notre Dame’s Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division, specifically in the Campus Dining department. The UOES division plays a vital role in managing event services, hospitality, and customer service functions for the University, including support for student life, academic programs, research initiatives, and special celebrations. This role is suited for individuals who have prior experience in kitchen operations and seek to refine their cooking skills while taking on greater responsibility. As a Cook 2, candidates will engage in the preparation of a variety of more complex food items, employing advanced cooking techniques and ensuring the consistent quality and timely delivery of meals. Responsibilities include preparing cold food items by cutting, chopping, and assembling ingredients, as well as executing tasks such as grilling, stir-frying, carving meats, deep-frying, and display cooking. The role requires effective multitasking and the ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment including knives and mixers. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation is essential, and compliance with all established protocols by Campus Dining and the UOES division is expected. The Cook 2 will monitor product usage and stock kitchen supplies to ensure smooth workflow.
