The role of Cook I under the direction of the Cook II/Executive Chef is a vital part of the culinary team in the Care New England Health System. This position involves preparing food both for the dining room services and patient meals, emphasizing safety, quality, and adherence to standardized recipes. The Cook I supports the kitchen operations by managing food production tasks such as grilling, portioning, plating, and ensuring that all food is prepared following HACCP standards. This role requires careful attention to quantity and quality control through daily inventory checks and supply orders to maintain smooth kitchen functioning. The incumbent is expected to maintain meticulous cleanliness and food safety practices throughout the production area, aligning with hospital regulations and health standards.
Moreover, the Cook I plays a supportive role in catered events, helping with the preparation and service of food. This position demands someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following both oral and written instructions effectively. A high school diploma and vocational or technical training, combined with at least one year of relevant experience, qualify a candidate to perform successfully in this role. Mastery of basic math and literacy skills, along with proficiency in English, is essential for record-keeping, recipe adherence, and communication within the team.
