The Long Island State Veterans Home (LISVH) is a renowned 350-bed skilled nursing facility situated on the campus of Stony Brook University. It is dedicated to serving honorably discharged Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, their spouses, and Gold Star parents. With a 40-slot Adult Day Health Care Program, LISVH provides specialized and compassionate care designed to meet the unique needs of veterans and their families. The facility prioritizes commitment, compassion, and leadership, creating an environment where employees are valued and recognized for their contributions. Located on a 25-acre tobacco-free campus, LISVH prides itself on fostering an inclusive and supportive community for both residents and staff alike. The Concierge position at the Long Island State Veterans Home serves a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all who enter the facility. This role is essential in enforcing Department of Health (DOH) guidelines by screening all employees and visitors at the point of entry. The Concierge is responsible for conducting health screenings, including asking established questions related to illness exposure, symptoms, and travel, as well as performing temperature checks to ensure compliance with DOH standards. In addition to screening, the Concierge manages electronic screening machines and assists in facilitating mandatory COVID-19 testing protocols. This includes collaborating closely with facility testing teams and IT staff to ensure testing and screening processes run smoothly and efficiently. Beyond enforcing health and safety protocols, the Concierge is also responsible for maintaining detailed visitation and testing records using designated tracking systems. They must accurately log visitor contact information, destinations, and testing data, working collaboratively with Social Work Services and other departments as necessary. The role entails managing and monitoring supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring that visitors and employees are provided with the necessary protection based on the current COVID-19 status of the units and residents they are visiting. The Concierge must be skilled in customer service and communication, answering inquiries courteously and employing appropriate de-escalation techniques when faced with challenging situations. This essential position requires an individual capable of adapting quickly to evolving protocols and regulations while maintaining a professional and composed demeanor. The Concierge plays an integral part in maintaining a secure, organized, and welcoming environment at the Long Island State Veterans Home.
