Barbuto is Jonathan Waxman’s renowned restaurant located in the vibrant West Village of New York City. We are currently seeking a motivated Chief Steward to join our dedicated team at Barbuto. This full-time role is central to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency that our restaurant is known for. The Chief Steward will work closely with the Chef and Sous Chefs and will oversee the Dishwasher department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the general cleanliness of the restaurant, maintaining kitchen equipment, and supporting the overall functionality of the facility. Additionally, the Chief Steward will manage the ordering of kitchen products, including food, supplies, and chemicals, and will organize and store all deliveries to ensure accuracy and compliance with health standards.
The role demands a proactive leader who can not only manage daily operations but also provide guidance and support to the porter staff. The Chief Steward must ensure that the trash and recycling areas are kept clean and organized, all bins are regularly cleaned and maintained, and the walk-in refrigerators and freezers are properly organized and sanitized. Preventative maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities will also be a key responsibility, requiring timely coordination with vendors and service providers. The Chief Steward must guarantee that all dishwashing and porter operations comply with Department of Health codes and regulations, maintaining a clean work environment at all times.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in a steward or similar role in a restaurant
