The role of Chef at West End Tavern is an exciting leadership position that promises to be fulfilling and challenging for the right candidate. This position is responsible for embodying the spirit of the Chef—leading the kitchen team with professionalism, expertise, and passion. The successful Chef will be a self-starter with a strong acumen, capable of building a positive kitchen culture, maintaining the highest standards of quality, and executing consistently delicious food. They will be particularly focused on ensuring exceptional flavor, quality, and presentation of every dish served, while surpassing sales and cost-of-goods sold (COGS) targets. The Chef will report directly to and collaborate with the General Manager to achieve company objectives, including sales, quality control, service, sanitation, and facility appearance. This role requires oversight of kitchen staffing and labor budgets, all while maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen environment. 
The ideal candidate will have experience working in high-volume smoking and BBQ kitchens, as well as proven supervisory skills in food preparation and catering or banquet services. An understanding of food cost management, scheduling, and budgeting is essential, along with experience in POS systems, accounting software, and digital tools such as Excel and Google Suite. The Chef must also hold or acquire ServSafe Manager Certification, with training provided if necessary. Physical demands of the role include standing for extended periods (up to 10 hours a day), lifting up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and off-site catering events. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $85,000 annually, comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with company sponsorship, and opportunities for career advancement and development.
