The Chef de Partie role is a pivotal leadership position within the Prepared Foods department at Whole Foods Market. This ATL-level position is designed for culinary professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional food quality and superior hospitality on the retail floor. The Chef de Partie oversees various culinary venues including the Chef’s Case, Fresh Pack, Charcuterie, Rotisserie, Food and Soup Bars, and in-line service sections such as pizza and sandwich counters. As a Retail Floor Venue Lead, the Chef de Partie is responsible for the timely execution of operational standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintaining merchandising standards, managing inventory levels, and implementing core menu items as well as promotional campaigns like Prime Deals. This role demands a balance of culinary expertise, leadership, and operational excellence. The Chef de Partie will drive a culture of culinary passion and commitment to food safety and quality across the team. They act as a culinary ambassador both to guests and staff, fostering a respectful and motivating work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and high morale. Responsibilities also include mentoring and developing team members to sustain high performance and low turnover. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively collaborate with store leadership, buyers, and regional teams to ensure store goals align with company standards and customer expectations. The Chef de Partie will be engaged in optimizing day-to-day food production, ensuring presentation standards are met and health and safety protocols are strictly adhered to. They will manage inventory, coordinate catering orders, participate in regional culinary events, and monitor all in-store culinary communications and signage. This position requires an organized, systematic approach to managing multiple culinary programs and the ability to prioritize and delegate work efficiently. A passion for food, a commitment to excellence, and a willingness to lead by example in hospitality and customer service are key traits for success in this role. The wage for this position ranges from $19.05 to $33.20 per hour and is commensurate with experience.
