The Newbury Boston at One Newbury Street is a luxurious and iconic hotel property situated in Boston’s prestigious Back Bay shopping and dining district. Originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and formerly known as the Taj Boston, this historic building was recently transformed into a 286-room luxury hotel featuring 16,000 square feet of elegant event space, signature dining experiences, and an inviting, reimagined entrance on Newbury Street.
The role of Chef de Cuisine at The Newbury Boston is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring all meals crafted in the kitchen meet the highest standards of quality, consistency, visual appeal, taste, and cost management. The Chef de Cuisine is tasked with training kitchen staff, enforcing corporate quality standards, managing food and labor costs, and maximizing guest satisfaction. This position requires close collaboration with other food and beverage managers and maintaining open lines of communication to address and resolve any operational issues promptly. The Chef de Cuisine supervises the entire banquet kitchen operation, from ensuring proper staffing and food production to monitoring sanitation, ordering, and compliance with health and liquor regulations. The role demands a commitment to high standards in food preparation, portion control, recipe adherence, and implementing corporate promotions and menu development in partnership with the Director of Food and Beverage. A proactive approach to managing food cost and inventory, responding to guest feedback, and conducting staff performance reviews is essential to success. This position requires dedication to upholding Highgate’s standards of hospitality, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume environment. The Chef de Cuisine will also participate in hotel-wide meetings and training sessions and contribute to leadership coverage as needed, demonstrating a service-oriented attitude and strong interpersonal skills throughout all interactions. - Culinary degree
- 2 years of Sous Chef level experience in a luxury hotel
- 5 years of progressive hotel or related field experience
