The role of the Housekeeper is a vital part of Texas Health Dallas’ Environmental Services team, contributing significantly to the hospital’s mission of health improvement in the community. This full-time, evening shift position requires 40 hours per week, with working hours from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The schedule includes rotating weekends, initially requiring employees to work every weekend for the first 90 days of employment, followed by a rotating weekend schedule thereafter. The Housekeeper plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment that aligns with infection control standards, sanitation guidelines, and safety protocols. This high-volume department operates at a fast pace, emphasizing teamwork where each member gains a sense of accomplishment by maintaining the environment crucial for patient care and hospital operations.
In this position, the housekeeper undertakes duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, linen collection, and cleaning various surfaces including sinks, commodes, countertops, showers, and beds. Furthermore, they are responsible for replenishing supplies and maintaining housekeeping equipment, reporting any equipment malfunctions to their supervisor to ensure an efficient workflow. Successful candidates will exhibit good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, set priorities, and adapt flexibly to changing assignments. Physical capabilities, including a full range of motion and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, are required due to the physical nature of the job and the use of cleaning chemicals.
