Currently, Sushi-san River North is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef de Cuisine to join their team. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of USD $70,000.00 to USD $90,000.00 per year, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a chef role and be passionate about delivering high standards in food quality, kitchen operations, and leadership.
The Chef de Cuisine will play a pivotal role in leading the back-of-house (BOH) operations, ensuring efficient food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining the highest level of culinary standards. This role requires not only culinary expertise but also strong leadership qualities to guide and develop kitchen staff, foster teamwork, and contribute to the restaurant’s overall success.
In this role, the Chef de Cuisine will oversee the opening shift process, manage food orders, inventory, pricing updates, and coordinate inspections. They will be responsible for food cost control, ordering supplies, and maintaining an organized, efficient kitchen environment. Collaboration with the General Manager and other designated managers or chefs is crucial to creating prep lists, assigning duties, and maintaining accurate recipe books. This position embodies a hands-on leadership approach, ensuring clear communication between front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house teams and upholding the restaurant's Culture of Caring.
Additionally, the Chef de Cuisine will lead recruitment efforts, onboard new employees, and provide ongoing training and supervision to kitchen staff. A critical component of the role includes modeling professionalism and teamwork, handling guest, vendor, and employee concerns with patience, courtesy, and good judgment.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, late nights, weekends, and possible overnight travel. The physical demands include frequently lifting and moving substantial weights up to 50 pounds.
