The role of Catering Sales Manager within University Housing’s Dining Services is a vital leadership position responsible for shaping and managing the catering operations that serve a diverse range of events on and off campus. This full-time, regular ongoing position offers an annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $66,000 and reports directly to the Assistant Director of Dining for Catering & Conference Services.
The Catering Sales Manager acts as the initial point of contact for customers placing catering orders and works closely with the Catering Chef and Catering Operations Manager to coordinate and execute events that meet and exceed customer expectations. This role involves overseeing the execution of multiple events daily, ensuring each is delivered seamlessly and successfully. Post-event follow-ups are essential to confirm customer satisfaction and to facilitate timely and accurate billing processes.
Supervising a three-person office support staff, the Catering Sales Manager holds independent responsibility for critical decisions in staffing, training, menu planning, and daily catering operations. Budgetary duties include allocating staff resources, pricing menus profitably, purchasing food and equipment, and managing both income and expenditures to maintain a financially viable operation. The position also demands excellent customer service skills, creativity in menu and event presentation development, and the ability to navigate diverse social and public settings effectively.

- Three years of experience in a large catering, restaurant, or hotel food service operation
- one year of catering or banquet experience
- three years of experience supervising or leading the work of others including assigning, evaluating, and dealing with disciplinary issues
- demonstrated commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- ability to prepare reports, budgets, and documents
- ability to understand and apply policies, procedures, and safety information
