This role is essential to maintaining and growing the catering business by managing order flow, coordinating schedules for pickups and deliveries, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Catering Coordinator must have a deep understanding of the products offered, including serving sizes, costs, and complementary items, allowing them to suggest options effectively and enhance customer satisfaction. The coordinator will also utilize Wakefern's proprietary online catering tools for order tracking and data management, contributing to efficient operations. In addition to handling orders, they play an active role in promoting the ShopRite Kitchen catering brand through social media and participation in local events. This position involves physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and rotating equipment and merchandise weighing up to 60 pounds, and requires standing or walking for the duration of scheduled shifts that may exceed eight hours. Additionally, the Catering Coordinator must adhere strictly to safety and hygiene protocols, including wearing approved uniforms, hair restraints, gloves, and following all federal, state, and local regulations related to food handling and catering operations. Familiarity with Company HAZCOM programs and safe chemical handling is also necessary. The role demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. A resourceful and proactive attitude is essential, as well as strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships with customers and co-workers.
