This position is essential in ensuring that customers receive fast, accurate, and friendly checkout experiences within a safe and sanitary grocery shopping environment. The Checkout Clerk engages directly with customers by scanning, weighing, and bagging items, verifying prices, managing tender transactions, and providing assistance with product location and promotions. Maintaining familiarity with company tender policies such as cash, credit, debit, coupons, EBT, and WIC is critical in this role, along with compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding restricted items sales like tobacco and alcohol. Additionally, the Checkout Clerk supports front-end operations by stocking and cleaning racks, coolers, and supply stations, making the shopping atmosphere welcoming and orderly.
