We are currently seeking a Cashier/General Clerk for our Front End department, reporting to the Front End Manager. This position offers a starting pay rate of $16.25 per hour, with the Kailua location offering a slightly higher starting rate of $17.00 per hour. The Cashier/General Clerk role is essential to maintaining the highest levels of customer service at the front end of our stores. This position requires you to engage warmly with customers, ensuring a gratifying checkout experience by efficiently operating the cash register and handling various forms of payment including cash, credit cards, debit cards, EBT, and checks. You'll be responsible for accurately weighing items, bagging groceries efficiently to minimize bag usage, and verifying customer IDs for certain purchases per company policy. The role also involves maintaining register accuracy and price integrity and balancing the register till at the beginning and end of your shift. You will assist customers promptly, restock your working area by keeping it clean and organized, and handle other duties such as acting as a courtesy clerk when necessary. This job demands physical capability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform other physical tasks diligently while adhering to safety procedures. Your communication skills and ability to follow instructions independently are key to your success in this fast-paced and dynamic environment. Previous experience working with the public and basic math and cash handling skills are preferred, along with knowledge of produce codes.
