The Captain role for the Gulfstream V based in Van Nuys, CA, represents a pivotal position within Jet Aviation’s Flight Services team. This onsite role embodies the essential responsibilities of a pilot in command, primarily focused on the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments. Reporting directly to the lead captain, the individual in this position exercises full authority over flights they operate, prioritizing safety, security, and adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. As the final authority on flight operations, the Captain will coordinate closely with the second in command and other team members to maintain the highest levels of operational integrity.
In this capacity, the Captain will be entrusted with significant duties such as planning and executing flight routes, ensuring compliance with FAA and company regulations, managing in-flight conditions, handling all required documentation diligently, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the aircraft systems including emergency procedures. The role demands a seasoned aviation professional who can serve as a mentor by imparting knowledge to second in command pilots, preparing them for future leadership roles. This responsibility extends beyond piloting to actively participating in safety reporting, regulatory liaison, security coordination, and representing Jet Aviation’s brand internally and externally.
The ideal candidate will possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the necessary Gulfstream V type rating, substantial fixed-wing and turbojet flight hours, and at least five years of aviation experience. The position requires flexibility to travel extensively worldwide and accommodate varying schedules, alongside maintaining FAA First Class Medical certification. This role is not only critical for flight operation but also serves as a vital ambassador of Jet Aviation’s values and standards, ensuring every flight operation reflects the company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
