This particular position is based out of Raleigh, NC, specifically at the RDU International Airport. The role reports directly to the Chief Pilot and Manager of Air Operations. The Captain plays a vital role in ensuring the safe operation of flights and acts as a visible representative of Martin Marietta. This individual must maintain the highest levels of professionalism, tact, and decorum while managing all aspects of flight operations with a primary focus on safety and efficiency.
The Captain’s responsibilities are comprehensive and essential to the company’s operational integrity. They must actively participate in Safety Management Systems to safeguard the flight’s success and follow rigorous safety and security protocols to protect the aircraft, facilities, and personnel from various risks including severe weather. The role demands excellent customer service skills to interact proficiently with passengers and business partners, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.
Compliance is critical; therefore, the Captain must adhere to the company’s employee manual, flight operations manual, relevant Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and other company and aircraft operation policies. Staying informed on developments within the business aviation sector, including any changes to federal, state, local, or foreign laws, is also part of this crucial role.
As pilot in command or second in command, the Captain oversees the safe and smooth operation of assigned flights. Responsibilities extend to preparing comprehensive flight plans, considering factors such as route weather, airport conditions, NOTAMs, and aircraft maintenance. The Captain must ensure the aircraft’s readiness by verifying cleanliness, proper fueling, weight and balance calculations, and that all performance measures are met according to regulations.
Use of checklists as per FARs and company operations is mandatory, along with the decisive ability to react to operational challenges by altering flight plans or initiating delays or cancellations if necessary. The Captain is tasked with completing pre-flight and post-flight procedures, maintaining passenger confidentiality, and performing additional duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot and Manager of Air Operations.

 - Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Fixed Wing Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating
 - Ability to maintain first class FAA Medical
 - Gulfstream G280 FAA Type Rating preferred
 - 4000+ hours total flight time
 - 3000+ hours multi-engine pilot in command
 - 2000+ hours jet pilot in command
