The Busser position at Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club is a seasonal role that plays a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of service and hospitality that the club is known for. This role is ideal for individuals looking to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and a genuine passion for hospitality are valued. Bussers support the dining experience by setting and clearing tables efficiently before, during, and after meal service, ensuring that the dining areas are clean, well-stocked, and inviting for members and guests. The position reports to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager and the Food & Beverage Director, providing an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within a respected hospitality team.
The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including assisting servers with set-up, service, and clean-up duties; serving water to guests as they are seated; carrying food trays; clearing soiled dishes and linens; replenishing server stations with necessary supplies; and maintaining cleanliness in dining rooms and buffet areas. Additionally, the Busser might assist during banquet functions and help ensure compliance with club policies, particularly around alcohol service. This position requires physical stamina since Bussers are expected to stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a sometimes hot, humid, and noisy environment. Candidates should possess general food knowledge, strong personal presentation, interpersonal skills, and a passion for delivering warm hospitality. The role also demands punctuality, reliability, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in English. 
Compensation for this position is $18.20 per hour plus participation in the House Service Charge Distribution Plan. It is an hourly, non-exempt position eligible for overtime. Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The club provides lunches six days a week and even offers staff the ability to enjoy the golf course on Mondays.
