The Director of Banquet Operations at The Meritage Resort and Spa plays a pivotal role in ensuring every event hosted at the resort is executed flawlessly. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing banquet and event operations, managing a high-performing team, and collaborating closely with culinary, catering sales, and conference service departments. The Director must possess deep expertise in luxury hospitality and food and beverage operations, particularly in managing high-volume events such as corporate conferences, weddings, and social gatherings. This role demands a visionary leader committed to excellence with exceptional organizational skills to handle the multifaceted challenges of large-scale event management.
The position offers a competitive salary starting at $110,000 or depending on experience and reports directly to the General Manager and Director of Food and Beverage. This full-time leadership role is integral to upholding the resort’s reputation for outstanding service and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include leading banquet operations with a focus on team development, operational precision, financial management, and elevating client and guest experiences. The Director is tasked with fostering a culture of accountability and hospitality excellence while ensuring events run smoothly from initial setup through to breakdown. Managing budgets, optimizing revenue streams, and driving upsell opportunities are crucial aspects of the role. Additionally, the position requires proactive handling of client communications, problem resolution, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards related to health, safety, and labor laws.
The ideal candidate will bring 7 to 10 years of banquet operations experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within luxury resorts or busy conference environments. A bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for candidates demonstrating exceptional industry experience. The candidate must exhibit strong financial acumen, leadership capabilities, and excellent communication skills to lead large teams, coordinate complex events, and maintain high satisfaction levels among guests and clients alike.
