Migrant Head Start is a dedicated program providing full-day, full-year educational and developmental services to children aged 0-5 years from migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families. The program mainly serves families working in areas where hand-picked and row crops are prevalent, offering these children crucial early education opportunities to support their growth and development during these formative years. The program is committed to helping prepare children for school readiness and success in life by delivering quality, comprehensive early childhood development services. As part of their mission, they focus on ensuring safe and supportive environments for young learners while acknowledging the unique challenges and lifestyles of migrant families. Within this impactful organization, the role of Bus Aide plays an essential part in the operational and educational goals of Migrant Head Start. The Bus Aide supports the Bus Driver and Facilities Custodian to ensure that children comply with Early Childhood Development safety rules while traveling on the school bus. Beyond safety enforcement, this role encourages educational engagement by providing activities aligned with the children's classroom experiences, fostering a culture of learning even during transit. The Bus Aide is responsible for giving clear and appropriate guidance on behavior and safety, closely supervising children visually and auditorily at all times to maintain a secure environment. This position also promotes overall school readiness by preparing children and families for future educational success. The Bus Aide maintains health and safety standards rigorously, helping to create an optimal learning atmosphere both on the bus and within other environments such as outdoor and indoor settings. Additionally, the role includes facilitating healthy practices, making certain that children remain safe, comfortable, and engaged throughout their bus rides. The ideal candidate for the Bus Aide position will have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those holding a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Experience or training working with children aged 0-5 years is advantageous, reflecting the hands-on nature of this child-focused service role. Strong communication skills are vital, as the position requires interaction not only with children but also with parents, volunteers, and other staff members. Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and Spanish, are preferred to better serve the diverse families involved in the program. Additional competencies include the ability to follow through on assigned tasks, positive and clear communication, basic computer literacy, and, preferably, a valid Arizona Driver's License or State ID without restrictions. The organization values these skills highly as they enhance the Bus Aide's ability to perform effectively within this dynamic and supportive educational environment. Migrant Head Start offers an extensive benefits package recognizing that their success is driven by talented and dedicated employees. Benefits include generous paid holidays, an employee recognition program, paid time off and sick days, free preventative health services with wellness rewards, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families. Other valuable benefits include health savings and flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance options, employee assistance programs, telemedicine, 401(k) retirement plans, pet care discounts, tuition reimbursement opportunities, mileage and cell phone reimbursements for qualifying positions, as well as identity theft protection and voluntary benefits.
