The Michaels store in Burlington, VT, is looking for an enthusiastic and organized Event Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and facilitate various events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other creative engagements within the store. This role is key to providing guests with a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience by delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high operational standards. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, engaging with clients of all ages—from young children to seniors—to foster an environment of fun and creativity. This position requires you to demonstrate craft project instructions, perform face painting, and facilitate additional party features such as goody bags and balloons, ensuring all events meet company standards. You will communicate effectively with clients and store team members, complete necessary administrative tasks including emails and paperwork, and adapt plans based on client feedback to guarantee satisfaction. Planning for contingencies and upholding company cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after events are essential duties. In addition to event coordination, you will support the overall customer experience by assisting shoppers in finding products, providing friendly and efficient checkout services, enrolling customers in the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and educating them about the Voice of Customer survey. You will also assist with omnichannel operations such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), stocking, merchandise recovery, and participating in shrink and safety programs. Compliance with company policies, standards, and legal requirements is critical, as is fostering a respectful and positive work environment. Cross-training in custom framing and maintaining daily store cleanliness are also part of the role. This position requires an energetic, enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills and prior experience working with children and children’s events. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills are necessary to succeed. The physical demands include standing for long periods, moving throughout the store, lifting heavy boxes, and accessing high shelves using ladders or similar equipment. Working hours may involve nights, weekends, and early mornings.
