This position is offered by a community-oriented cooperative store known for its commitment to quality products and excellent customer service. The Coop emphasizes teamwork, cleanliness, and efficiency in all its operations to ensure a pleasant shopping and working environment for both customers and staff. The role available is for a Dishwasher who will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization within the store's dishware and food preparation areas. It is a part-time or full-time position with scheduled shifts on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 3 pm to 9:30 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 6 pm. The dishwasher will play a critical role in supporting the food service and deli staff by ensuring that all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking tools are properly cleaned and ready for use throughout their shifts. The job also involves some cleaning duties and general busing but offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the cooperative's operations. The dishwasher must operate the commercial dishwashing machine safely and appropriately and adhere strictly to health and safety regulations related to dishwashing and cleanliness in food prep areas. The role requires a keen ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating reliability and efficiency. Additionally, this role may occasionally include light prep work in the Production Kitchen, contributing further to the day-to-day store activities. Additional responsibilities include assisting the store's Deep Cleaners and Daily Cleaner with maintaining the overall appearance of the store, including spot cleanups and mopping floors as necessary, emptying garbage daily, sorting recycling appropriately, and helping clean and bus tables in seating areas. The dishwasher needs to be flexible with working hours to meet business demands, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Physical requirements of the job include the ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds, the endurance to stand for long periods, and the capability to bend, twist, lift products overhead, or climb ladders with products when required. Experience or aptitude in safely using knives and handling food on some shifts is also necessary.
