The Kitchen Coordinator position within the Food Services/Culinary Arts Program at Alternatives, Inc. is a full-time, non-exempt role designed for an energetic and motivated individual who can effectively manage kitchen operations while supporting the organization’s mission. Starting wages for this position range from $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience. Candidates can expect a flexible 40-hour workweek, with days and hours to be discussed according to operational needs. New hires undergo a comprehensive orientation lasting one week, where they learn the foundational aspects of Alternatives, Inc. inside the Alternatives Training Center.
As a Kitchen Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the daily preparation and delivery of meals for Alternatives, Inc. residents and personnel. This position requires the ability to work in a correctional kitchen environment, which demands adaptability, good communication skills, and the capacity to collaborate with a diverse population. The role is physically active and involves supervising, motivating, and training Culinary Arts Program participants, including CAP/Inmate workers. Your efforts will directly impact the effectiveness of meal service provided three times daily throughout the year.
Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen and dining areas, managing the storage of food stock systematically and securely, assisting with meal preparation and service, and supporting special culinary events. Moreover, the Kitchen Coordinator will actively participate in training and guiding Culinary Arts Program participants, fostering a positive atmosphere conducive to learning and professional growth.

- ServSafe Certified or ability to become certified within one month of hire
- valid driver’s license
