The role of a Bilingual Medical Receptionist within the Family Health Center at Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties is a vital frontline position that significantly contributes to the smooth operation and welcoming atmosphere of the facility. This position is responsible for managing patient interactions and administrative tasks to ensure a seamless patient experience. As a Bilingual Medical Receptionist, you will be integral in coordinating appointment scheduling across multiple providers, updating and maintaining accurate patient records in the Electronic Medical Record system, and acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff.
This role requires excellent communication skills in both English and a second language to effectively support diverse patient populations. The successful candidate will handle incoming phone calls, check patients in and out efficiently, provide necessary forms to patients, and assist with insurance verification and troubleshooting. Additionally, the receptionist will manage various electronic and paper-based requests, support providers and medical assistants by screening patient phone calls, and, when needed, perform interpretation services to facilitate effective patient care.
Under the supervision of the Health Operations Manager and Medical Director, the Bilingual Medical Receptionist will also assist with specialty tasks such as maintaining competency with immigration physical processes and supporting the Sliding Fee Discount application for eligible patients. The position demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
This on-site role is essential in creating a supportive and efficient clinical environment. The receptionist will engage directly with individuals and families who may be experiencing crisis or distress, requiring a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered approach. Physical demands include frequent use of hands for various tasks, occasional lifting of items up to 15 pounds, and the need to adapt to a sometimes busy and dynamic work environment.
