The Account Coordinator role at Belk is a strategic position designed to manage and coordinate all retail activities related to a specific vendor line across all stores that carry the vendor's merchandise. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Center Core Retail Operations & Events, this exempt role serves as a critical liaison between Belk and the vendor, ensuring the fulfillment of mutual business goals and upholding Belk's retail standards. The role requires regular travel to nearby stores from Charleston, SC to provide on-site support and maintain strong relationships with store leadership and sales associates.
This position is pivotal in meeting and exceeding line-specific sales plans and seasonal goals related to gifts and promotional campaigns. The Account Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing localized and national events, managing promotional calendars, and analyzing key performance indicators such as sales per hour, units per transaction, and credit application goals through Belk's scorecard system. Furthermore, the Coordinator actively monitors inventory shrinkage and works diligently to keep it within planned limits, including managing damages and returns to vendors (RTVs).
A significant aspect of the role involves developing counter managers and sales associates by reviewing their performance on scorecards, creating coaching plans, recruiting and training talent, and ensuring optimal utilization of sales hours and concierge services. The Coordinator recognizes top performers and provides targeted coaching to those underperforming, while also delivering necessary sales associate training to enhance overall team effectiveness.
The Account Coordinator is tasked with fostering open communication among all stakeholders, including Belk field and corporate leadership, vendor representatives, and store management. This involves regular store visits, active participation in weekly leadership calls, and attendance at internal and vendor-specific business meetings. The Coordinator ensures the visual merchandising standards set by Belk Corporate Visual are consistently executed and that promotional floor setups are timely and well-maintained.
