The Barista position at Canteen’s Raymond James St. Petersburg Tower 6 Cafe is ideal for individuals who enjoy crafting coffee and espresso beverages and engaging warmly with customers. This role plays a critical part in maintaining high standards of food safety, quality control, and customer experience within a fast-paced café environment. Baristas are responsible for preparing espresso drinks and related food items using approved recipes and adhering to HACCP guidelines to ensure safe food handling practices. The successful candidate will accurately process transactions using a POS system, handle cash and card payments efficiently, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service area throughout shifts. Customer interaction is a key element of the role, with the barista greeting patrons courteously, responding to inquiries about menu items, and assisting customers in making informed choices by employing effective selling techniques. The position demands attention to detail in presentation and portion control, ensuring that items are served attractively at proper temperatures. Candidates should be prepared to undertake various cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sanitizing equipment and replenishing supplies to uphold a welcoming and efficient work environment. Previous customer service and barista experience is preferred but not mandatory, highlighting Canteen’s openness to training motivated individuals. Working hours are full-time from Monday through Friday, with all shifts concluding by 4:00 pm, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.
