The Bakery Team Member role at Giant Eagle plays a crucial part in maintaining the bakery's reputation for delicious and fresh products. As a baker, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of products, ensuring that only the freshest items are available for customers. This role requires using the best ingredients to craft mouth-watering bakery items such as breads, donuts, and specialty goods. You will also engage with customers by providing excellent guest service, answering questions, and making product suggestions to enrich their shopping experience. The role involves following established scratch recipes and procedures meticulously, including bench work, proofing, baking, frying donuts, and managing product freshness through proper storage techniques. Safety and sanitation are top priorities in this position, as you will help maintain cleanliness of equipment, workspaces, and follow strict hygiene standards to meet department regulations. Additionally, you will be assisting in other bakery-related tasks like unloading deliveries, managing special orders, and maintaining efficient freezer and cooler operations. The position is designated as Skilled compensation grade and requires at least 6 to 12 months of bakery or related industry experience, or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program. While a high school diploma is not required, candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
