This is achieved through multiple avenues including prevention, protection, and preparation, along with the custodial care, supervision, and management of adults sentenced following convictions for violations of state laws. The agency's vast scope encompasses State Prisons staffed with custody, healthcare, and facility operations teams, as well as the Community Supervision division. Further support functions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry divisions. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is committed to its mission and hires for various positions statewide in pursuit of excellence in corrections and public safety. This job posting is for the position of Correctional Food Service Officer I (S) at the NC Department of Adult Correction under the Adult Correction Division. This role is essential to the operational success of food service within a correctional institution or facility. The position involves supervising offenders engaged in large-scale food production and food service activities. The officer will lead teams within the food service department, directing food preparation and meal service while ensuring safety, sanitation, and adherence to menu requirements. Effective supervision demands excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, as well as proficiency in managing related computer data and reports. The Correctional Food Service Officer I is eligible for a sign-on bonus—$3,000 for hires starting July 1, 2025, or later, and $7,000 for those hired before that date. Additionally, the position qualifies for a $1,000 Applicant Referral Bonus. Salary ranges from $32,639 to $57,117 depending on classification.
