GMR's comprehensive approach combines advanced medical technology, highly skilled staff, and a dedication to safety and regulatory compliance to ensure excellent patient outcomes and operational excellence.
The company is currently seeking a dedicated Rotor-Wing IFR Strike Team Pilot to join their team under a full-time, salaried employment arrangement. This unique role plays a crucial part in the aviation operations team by supporting IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) bases and assisting with the establishment and standardization of new IFR bases. The pilot position offers an attractive compensation package that includes a 15% geographical modifier to base pay, a $22,750 annual stipend, a $5,000 annual IFR stipend, and reimbursement for travel and per diem expenses for all shifts. Additionally, pilots enjoy 24-hour housing and a structured 14 days on, 14 days off work schedule.
This role is more than just flying; it is about ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient operation of rotor-wing aircraft in emergency medical contexts. Pilots are responsible for the safe and effective operation of company aircraft in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations Part 135, the Air Evac EMS Operations Manual, and all applicable state or municipal regulations. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of flight operations, preflight procedures, aircraft maintenance reporting, and weather monitoring to maintain mission readiness and safety standards.
As a Rotor-Wing IFR Strike Team Pilot, you will be tasked with developing pilot information guides detailing hospital locations, communication frequencies, and operational procedures to aid flight planning and coordination. Local area orientations will be conducted as necessary, and constant communication with regional directors will ensure that all flight planning information remains current and accurate. Preflight inspections, reporting of aircraft discrepancies, and adherence to strict housekeeping standards in the crew quarters and hangar are also key responsibilities. The role demands a high level of professionalism, teamwork with nursing and paramedic staff, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Candidates should possess a high degree of experience and certification, including FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter certificate, FAA Helicopter instrument rating, and a current FAA Class II Medical certificate. Flight time experience requirements are rigorous, focusing on total flight hours, helicopter hours, pilot-in-command time, turbine hours, night flight experience, and instrument hours. Previous helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) experience and familiarity with H135 helicopters and twin-engine time are preferred.
Physical and mental demands of the position include meeting specific vision standards, managing potential exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, and airborne pathogens, and maintaining the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure while following established procedures. GMR considers this role critical to its mission of saving lives and values pilots who can work in dynamic, challenging, and fast-paced environments.
Global Medical Response is committed to equal employment opportunity, supporting veterans, and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. By joining GMR, you become part of a respected family of brands focused on delivering compassionate, timely, and expert medical transportation services.
