In this position, the incumbent will administer various functions including membership recruitment and retention, customer service, scheduling, and staff development. The role demands supervision and leadership of multiple teams such as student or temporary employees, concessions staff, event personnel, and instructors involved in the activities of the Varsity Tennis Center. By supporting all aspects of facility operations – including safety, security, cleanliness, and maintenance of indoor and outdoor venues – the Associate Facility Manager guarantees a high standard of service and upkeep that reflects the university's commitment to excellence.
The position also requires active involvement in event and game management, which means flexibility to work during nights and weekends to support university athletic events and external functions. In addition, the Associate Facility Manager plays a vital role in marketing initiatives to promote the Varsity Tennis Center through website content, social media platforms, and targeted advertisements, enhancing visibility and increasing community engagement.
The role extends into financial stewardship with responsibilities including inventory management, point of sale operations, handling cash controls, and operating profit centers such as merchandise sales, racket restringing, and vending services. Budgets are developed and administered in collaboration with the Facility Manager, ensuring alignment with the overall financial goals and compliance with university standards.
Safety and regulatory compliance are paramount in this role, requiring adherence to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards, University of Michigan purchasing protocols, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) codes, and NCAA & Big Ten regulations.
