The Assistant General Manager position at the Yale Golf Course is a dynamic, full-time role requiring leadership, operational expertise, and strong interpersonal skills. With an annual salary range of $65,000 to $101,000, this role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee a wide range of functions within the golf facility. The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to ensure smooth daily operations, including managing casual staff, coordinating events, overseeing food and beverage services, and handling pro shop management. This role demands proficiency in customer service as the Assistant General Manager will interact regularly with diverse stakeholders such as students, alumni, staff, and members of the golf community.
In addition to operational management, the Assistant General Manager will develop strong collaborations across various university departments, including the grounds crew, varsity golf teams, and the athletic department. Responsibilities include training staff, managing point-of-sale and booking systems, resolving customer issues, and maintaining compliance with university policies and industry standards, including NCAA, Ivy League, and PGA regulations. Financial oversight forms a significant part of this job, with duties encompassing budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and inventory control for golf merchandise and supplies.
This position follows a 9-month schedule, with December, January, and February as off months, aligning with the golf course's activity cycle. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to manage conflict effectively. They should bring operational knowledge of golf facilities, retail management, and food services, along with experience in golf-related technologies and trends.
