The Part-Time House Manager position is integral to the smooth operation of the shelter program under the guidance of the Program Coordinator. This role is pivotal in managing daily shelter activities, ensuring compliance with program guidelines, and offering direct support to residents. The House Manager is responsible for maintaining an organized, safe, and welcoming environment conducive to residents’ needs while strictly enforcing house rules and policies. This part-time, hourly, non-exempt position involves working overnight weekend shifts from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays, offering an hourly wage of $20.60. The House Manager must be a reliable and compassionate individual capable of handling crises independently using sound judgment. This role offers an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the community by supporting some of its most vulnerable populations.
Key responsibilities include managing shelter operations during the assigned shifts, admitting and assessing new residents alongside the Heading Home team to ensure appropriate placement, and maintaining necessary supplies, including food for residents’ snacks and lunches. The House Manager also updates and reviews staff logs to communicate relevant information from each shift effectively. Participation in staff meetings and adherence to all agency and program rules are essential to maintaining a cohesive operational standard. Additionally, the role occasionally requires some physical activity including lifting equipment, ascending and descending stairs, and remaining stationary for extended periods, which requires a basic level of physical fitness.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working with homeless or at-risk populations and demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Their ability to work independently while managing crises and multitasking among various duties is critical for success in this role. Furthermore, the position occasionally demands daytime availability for training sessions, meetings, or other program-related obligations.
