The hiring establishment is a company that operates dual facilities located in Avenel and Piscataway, focusing on maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and overall building upkeep. This company prioritizes a safe and efficient working environment across its two locations and places significant emphasis on cleanliness, maintenance, and operational excellence. The company fosters collaboration between departments, particularly between maintenance and operations, to ensure all facilities remain in top condition. It commits to following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety guidelines, allergen control, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to maintain the integrity and safety of the workplace. This dual-location setup requires employees to have flexibility in working locations and schedules to meet operational demands. The role offered is that of a Sanitation Supervisor and Facility Custodian who will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the Piscataway facility while starting the day at the Avenel location. This unique position combines responsibilities from both sanitation and basic mechanical maintenance, working closely with the Maintenance Department and the Vice President of Operations. The role includes cross-training initiatives, allowing the individual to develop skills in mechanical tasks such as equipment maintenance and minor repairs, thereby supporting the Maintenance Department. This means the employee will not just focus on sanitation but also gain hands-on experience and training in basic maintenance trades. The Facilities Custodian part of the role involves a wide range of cleaning and upkeep responsibilities to ensure that floors, restrooms, furniture, fixtures, and the overall building environment are clean, orderly, and properly maintained. The duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, sanitizing restrooms, dusting furniture and equipment, cleaning windows and mirrors, managing cleaning supplies, and performing minor building maintenance activities. Seasonal duties such as snow removal from walkways are also part of the job. Additionally, the employee will be charged with notifying management of any repairs or maintenance issues that arise. Alongside the custodial duties, the maintenance apprentice aspect of the role involves learning on the job by working closely with experienced technicians. The apprentice will help maintain machinery by cleaning, lubricating, replacing worn parts, assisting with installations, and conducting basic repairs. General building maintenance such as painting, wall repairs, and improvements across the facilities is also a primary focus. Safety protocols and proper procedures are strictly followed to ensure a safe working environment. The apprentice will contribute to general cleanup and support during build-outs or renovations, coordinating with operations leadership and contractors. This position demands physical strength and stamina as it requires lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, stooping, squatting, and climbing stairs throughout the shift. The working environment may include exposure to cold, wet, or humid conditions and strong food odors. Candidates must demonstrate good communication skills, the ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols, and a willingness to learn and adapt within a team-oriented setting. Flexibility in scheduling is critical as the role may require working weekends, holidays, and shift changes. The candidate should also be open to rotating across different areas and conditions, including hot or cold environments. A positive attitude, a team mentality, and a willingness to train new team members are valued traits for this position. This job description is subject to change according to business needs, reflecting the dynamic nature of the operational environment.
