The role of Beverage Manager is a pivotal leadership position responsible for directing beverage operations across multiple units. The Beverage Manager oversees all beverage-related activities, focusing on the sustainability of beverage initiatives, maintaining the highest level of quality, and ensuring excellent guest satisfaction scores. This role is measured on the overall performance of the restaurant bars including revenue growth, profitability, service standards, and operational compliance. The manager will play a critical role in the creation and development of new beverage recipes, menu concepts, promotions, and seasonal programs. They will also collaborate closely with beverage vendors to drive profitability through pricing strategies and promotional efforts.
As a multi-unit leader, the Beverage Manager will be instrumental in supporting hotel openings by coordinating training, bar setup, recipes, and sanitation efforts. They will foster a competitive and progressive growth culture within the beverage department by mentoring high-potential leaders, empowering employees to deliver excellent internal and external customer service, and effectively managing team member retention. This role demands a strong understanding of financial control processes, pricing analysis, and departmental accountability to optimize operational efficiency and financial results.
The Beverage Manager is expected to actively participate in management, staff, and preconvention meetings to align strategies and operations with company standards. Their leadership extends to enforcing the White Lodging Way (WLW) processes and training, influencing restaurant revenue growth, and continuously enhancing service levels through monitoring, feedback, and coaching. This position is critical in translating complex data and operational activities into actionable solutions that drive business success.
With a focus on decision making, creativity, conceptual ability, organization, customer focus, goal setting, team building, assertiveness, and accountability, the successful candidate will bring a blend of skills in communication, marketing, sales, accounting, cash handling, customer service, and critical thinking. Educational requirements include a preferred college degree and leadership experience, ideally in large volume environments. Knowledge of health and sanitation practices, multi-million dollar profit and loss responsibility, and state liquor license certification are essential.
The working conditions require physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds, push or pull heavy objects, and sustain periods of sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing. The environment can include exposure to hot and cold temperatures, underscoring the dynamic nature of this role.
