The role of Local Delivery Driver at Sutherlands is crafted for individuals who excel in customer service and enjoy working in dynamic, team-driven settings. This position involves delivering products locally within a 100-mile radius of the store, making it a critical link between the company and its customers. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys problem-solving, maintains composure under pressure, and actively contributes to the team’s collaborative efforts. As a Local Delivery Driver, you will be entrusted with driving single-axle flatbed trucks loaded with lumber and other building materials, ensuring these items are delivered safely and efficiently to customers.
In addition to driving, responsibilities include unloading trucks using a variety of methods such as manually, with dump beds, or truck-mounted forklifts. Operating forklifts, saws, and banding equipment is essential to properly prepare delivery loads and assist customers in loading their own vehicles when necessary. Maintaining an excellent lumber yard presentation and assisting with yard returns and exchanges are also important aspects of this job. This role requires flexibility, a hardworking attitude, and a commitment to doing "whatever it takes" to help coworkers and the company succeed.
Compensation for this role will be based on the candidate’s level of experience, offering a competitive pay scale for qualified applicants. Sutherlands also enforces a drug-free policy with mandatory initial and random drug testing to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Candidates for this position must be detail-oriented, motivated, and honest, with the physical capability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds without assistance and a clean driving record. The company encourages applicants who are 21 years or older (18 in Arkansas) and who have a minimum of one year of retail sales experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
