This opportunity is for the role of Sommelier, a key position within the food and beverage team at Montage. The Sommelier plays an essential role in guiding guests through an extensive wine list, providing detailed descriptions and personalized recommendations tailored to guests' preferences and dining choices. Beyond guest interaction, the Sommelier is also responsible for educating and mentoring team members, including bartenders, servers, and other associates involved in beverage sales. This includes conducting training sessions on wine service standards, detailing proper techniques for decanting, pouring, and presentation, and sharing deep knowledge of wine regions, grape varietals, flavor profiles, and food pairings. The role requires maintaining the wine cellar in optimal condition, ensuring appropriate temperature, humidity, and storage to preserve wine quality, while conducting regular inventory audits and monitoring aging wines to maximize profitability and minimize waste. Collaboration with restaurant management is also vital to oversee beverage costs, pricing, and the maintenance of wine and cocktail lists alongside bartenders and beverage managers. The Sommelier is expected to participate in daily pre-shift meetings and uphold a commitment to exceeding guests’ expectations by creating WOW moments that enhance the overall dining experience.
