The General Manager role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations across all primary departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage. The General Manager ensures that the hotel operates within the fiscal parameters set by ownership while maintaining the brand's quality standards. The role involves comprehensive personnel management, budget oversight, and financial control, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability. An integral part of the role involves guest relationship management, particularly resolving escalated guest concerns to uphold the hotel's esteemed reputation. The General Manager will coordinate with corporate recruitment to maintain optimal staffing levels and will lead team development initiatives through hiring, training, coaching, and counseling. This role demands a strong leader with the ability to multitask, problem solve, and communicate effectively with guests, staff, and corporate stakeholders. Excellent financial acumen is essential to meet and exceed budgetary goals and objectives. This role is not conducive to remote work and requires a physical presence on-site, accommodating flexible shifts including weekends and occasional overnight travel. Prospective candidates should possess a strong ethical foundation, reflecting honesty and trustworthiness as a condition of employment. The ideal candidate will have a background in hotel management with significant supervisory experience, preferably within well-known brands such as Hilton or Marriott. They should be well-versed in government regulations, industry safety standards, and accounting processes related to hotel operations. Competency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, is necessary, alongside strong project management and strategic planning skills. With a focus on guest satisfaction and operational excellence, the General Manager plays a crucial role in cultivating a professional, motivated, and guest-centered team environment.
  • College degree (BS/BA) preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Five years experience supervising at least 15 associates
  • Three years experience in hotel management including managing budgets
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working in Hilton or Marriott family of hotels preferred
  • Must pass appropriate security clearances
  • Must be able to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch and reach
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with associates and guests
  • Must maintain honesty and trustworthiness at all times
  • Must be physically present at the hotel and be able to work any shift including weekends
  • Periodic overnight travel required
