This role is for a Culinary Supervisor who will play a critical leadership role within the culinary department. The supervisor will oversee and guide the culinary team in all facets of food preparation, ensuring that meal services run efficiently and meet the desired quality standards. This position involves direct supervision, mentoring, and training of kitchen staff to enhance their cooking skills, safety practices, and sanitation compliance. Taking on this role means being actively involved in the planning and execution of daily menus in collaboration with dietary professionals, as well as developing and standardizing recipes and production sheets. The Culinary Supervisor also manages workflow within the kitchen, scheduling and prioritizing tasks to optimize food preparation output.
The supervisor is responsible for maintaining an organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and fire regulations, and ensuring that all kitchen equipment is used safely and effectively. They are also tasked with monitoring inventory, addressing potential shortages or overages, and reporting equipment malfunctions. Providing excellent customer service by handling inquiries and resolving complaints is an integral part of the job. As a leadership position within the culinary team, this role includes evaluating staff performance, facilitating timely performance appraisals, and promoting departmental goals through motivation and team leadership.
This is a full-time position where candidates with an Associate's Degree or equivalent experience are preferred, alongside 4-6 years of relevant culinary experience and some leadership experience. The salary is commensurate with experience and includes factors such as location and credentials. The Culinary Supervisor will contribute significantly to the success of the food service operation by upholding quality, safety, and efficiency in meal preparation and service.
