The position is for a skilled Ground Service Agent who will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operational activities at the airport. The responsibilities encompass loading, unloading, servicing, guiding, and directing customer aircraft to ensure timely departures and arrivals. The agent will be responsible for safeguarding customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail against weather-related damages, loss, theft, or destruction, highlighting the critical importance of security and careful handling in the aviation environment. This role demands physical exertion, including lifting heavy baggage, sorting cargo, and operating motorized ground support equipment such as belt loaders, pushback tugs, and lavatory carts. Additionally, the agent must maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including coordinating with Wing Walkers during pushback operations to prevent accidents.
The Ground Service Agent will also be tasked with completing accurate records and paperwork related to baggage, airfreight, mail, and company materials, ensuring compliance with company systems and regulatory requirements. The role requires a blend of technical skills, physical stamina, and excellent communication abilities to effectively coordinate activities on the ramp. Furthermore, the agent must comply with airport security measures, including obtaining necessary airport authority identification security after completing ramp and SIDA training. - Must be a local (in-state) resident
- valid in-state driver's license
- ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- ability to pass up to a 10-year background check
- must be at least 18 years of age
- must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces
- must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- must be able to work in cramped or high places
- must be able to carry heavy items up and down jet way stairs
- high school diploma or GED
